The ACR URC-103 is the master controller for RCL-50 and RCL-100 LED searchlights. This version is required for LED light heads instead of the URC-102, as the latter causes interference. Includes eight inline connectors.

The right controller for an LED searchlight
The ACR URC-103 master controller is the model designed for LED searchlights in the RCL-50 and RCL-100 series. It regulates the power supply and translates commands from the Point Pad to the light.

This is precisely the part where people get stuck during a retrofit. If you are switching from a halogen searchlight to the LED version, you cannot reuse your old URC-102. The reason: the URC-102 has a slow-ramping startup voltage for halogen bulbs and continuously adjusts the voltage thereafter. An LED light head does not require this and actually experiences interference from such regulation. The URC-103 has been adapted accordingly.

Why choose the URC-103 master controller?

  • Made for LED light heads: without the voltage regulation that causes interference with LEDs
  • Required for LED retrofitting: you cannot reuse your existing URC-102
  • Includes XRCiZ: the automatic maintenance cycle every thirty days
  • Eight inline connectors included: for the connections you need

Who is this product for?

Intended for anyone installing an RCL-50 LED or RCL-100 LED searchlight, or retrofitting an existing halogen system to LED. Also for replacing a defective controller. Installers and shipyards frequently order this part separately during a retrofit.

What are the benefits for you?

  • Your LED searchlight works without interference: the correct controller prevents problems in the light head
  • Retrofitting to LED becomes possible: without this controller, the upgrade will fail
  • XRCiZ remains functional: the maintenance feature prevents seizing after long periods of inactivity
  • Replaceable as a standalone unit: cheaper than an entirely new system

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does a Point Pad do?

A Point Pad is the control panel at your helm station. You use it to turn the searchlight on and off, rotate and tilt the beam, choose rotation speed, and engage the XRCiZ maintenance function.

What is the difference between a Point Pad and a master controller?

The master controller is the box that regulates the power and control signals, which you mount out of sight. The Point Pad is the control panel you interact with. You need both.

Can I connect multiple control stations?

+

Yes. Multiple Point Pads can be connected to the same master controller via coaxial cable. Keep the total coax length limited to approximately 90 meters.

Does this work on 12 or 24 volts?

On both. The URP-102 Point Pad operates on 12 or 24 volts DC, which fits almost any onboard power system.

Why can't I reuse my old controller with LED?

The URC-102 has a slow-ramping startup voltage for halogen bulbs and continuously adjusts the voltage thereafter. That regulation causes interference in an LED light head. That is why the URC-103 was developed.
