Marker light that turns on automatically and stays upright as soon as it hits the water
The ACR SM-3 is a crew overboard marker light, also known as a man overboard or MOB light. If you throw a lifebuoy overboard, the light turns on automatically as soon as it touches the water. It is a high-intensity LED flasher that is visible all around for a distance of approximately 3.2 kilometers.
Two features make this light practical. It self-corrects and stays upright, ensuring the flash shines upward and sideways rather than into the water. And it lasts a long time: the light burns for more than 40 hours at 30 degrees and more than 24 hours at minus 1 degree. Even if the search takes hours, the light will still be burning.
The SM-3 is SOLAS-approved and MED-approved with Wheelmark. It runs on two AA lithium batteries, which are not included.
Why choose the SM-3 marker light?
- Turns on automatically in water: no button that someone needs to find in a panic
- Stays upright: the light self-corrects so the flash points in the right direction
- 360-degree visibility: visible all around for approximately 3.2 kilometers
- More than 40 hours of burn time: at 30 degrees, and more than 24 hours at minus 1 degree
- SOLAS and MED approved: with Wheelmark, suitable for professional use
- Compact and robust: made for permanent use outdoors on deck
Who is this product for?
The SM-3 is intended for commercial shipping, petro-marine, charter vessels, and larger yachts where a reliable crew overboard light is mandatory or desired. It is also useful for smaller vessels that sail in the dark or in winter, regardless of type, because that is exactly when someone who has gone overboard can disappear from sight within a few seconds without a light.
What are the benefits for you?
- The person overboard remains visible: even after you have had to turn the vessel
- Works without anyone needing to do anything: water activation requires no action from the person overboard
- Stays lit all night: more than enough for a long search operation
- Meets requirements: SOLAS approved and MED certified with Wheelmark
