All your safety gear in one bag that you can grab in one motion
The ACR RapidDitch is an emergency bag for scenarios where you need to abandon ship. The idea behind it is simple but effective: when things go wrong, you don’t have time to retrieve your EPIRB from the chart table, your distress signals from a locker, and your first-aid kit from the galley. Everything belongs in one bag that you can take with you in one motion.

The bag features compartments, loops, and attachment points to keep your gear organized. The material is water-resistant and reflective, which helps if rescue teams need to spot you. With built-in floats, the bag remains buoyant with up to approximately eleven kilograms of gear, so it won’t sink to the bottom if it goes overboard. The zippers are self-repairing and corrosion-resistant.

The smartest detail is in the shoulder strap. You can detach it and convert it into two safety tethers of over a meter each, which you clip to life jackets. This keeps the crew connected while in the water. Drifting apart is one of the greatest risks during a rescue, and this solves it with a strap you are already carrying.

Why choose the RapidDitch emergency bag?

  • Everything in one bag: EPIRB, distress signals, first-aid supplies, and water all in one place
  • Floats with your gear inside: holds up to approximately eleven kilograms of contents
  • Shoulder strap becomes a safety tether: two tethers of over a meter to connect crew members
  • Reflective material: helps rescue teams find you
  • Self-repairing zippers: corrosion-resistant, built for salt and weather
  • Compartments and loops: your gear stays organized instead of in a pile

Who is this product for?

Intended for anyone heading further from shore who wants a plan in case they have to abandon ship. This applies to offshore sailors and offshore anglers, but just as much to commercial shipping, charter vessels, and workboats that must comply with a safety plan. It is also practical if you sail on different boats with the same equipment, as the bag makes your safety gear portable from ship to ship.

What are the benefits for you?

  • No searching at the worst moment: you grab one bag and you have everything
  • Your gear won't go to the bottom: the bag floats with the contents inside
  • The crew stays together: the converted shoulder strap connects life jackets
  • Better visibility in the water: reflective material assists in search efforts
  • Portable: take the same equipment to another boat

Frequently asked questions

What should be in an emergency bag?

At the very least, your emergency beacon, a handheld VHF, distress signals, first-aid supplies, drinking water, a flashlight, and copies of your ship's documents. Keep the total weight light enough that the bag still floats with everything inside.

Does the bag float when full?

The RapidDitch floats with up to approximately eleven kilograms of gear. If you pack it heavier, that buoyancy will be lost.

What is the difference compared to the RapidDitch Express?

The Express (item number 2279) is more compact, floats with up to approximately seven kilograms, and comes with a mount for wall installation. The standard RapidDitch is larger and holds more.

What is the purpose of the converted shoulder strap?

You detach the strap and turn it into two safety tethers of over a meter, which you clip to life jackets. This prevents the crew from drifting apart, which is one of the greatest risks during an open-water rescue.
