The ACR Firefly PRO is a SOLAS-approved rescue strobe light with 41 candela and visibility of over 4.8 kilometers. It flashes for more than 56 hours on AA batteries. Operated manually with a large slide switch.
Over 56 hours of flashing, far exceeding the SOLAS standard
The ACR Firefly PRO is a personal strobe light that you attach to your life jacket, belt, or backpack. If you are in the water, a flashing light is the difference between being found and being overlooked. A head without light is virtually impossible to locate at night.
What makes this light special is its operating time. The light flashes continuously for over 56 hours on AA lithium batteries. That is more than 48 hours longer than the minimum required by SOLAS and the US Coast Guard. You can therefore survive a search operation lasting two nights with the light on.
There are three modes. The bright strobe mode to attract attention, an SOS strobe that flashes the international distress pattern, and a continuous-on mode for the final stretch, when the rescue team is nearby and you just want to remain visible. The light is cool white without any yellow tint, which carries further over water. The wide-beam LEDs provide a 360-degree beam with 41 candela, visible over 4.8 kilometers.
This version with article number 3970.3 is operated manually with a large slide switch that can also be used while wearing gloves. If you want a light that turns on automatically in water, take a look at the Waterbug version.

Frequently asked questions
How long will a Firefly PRO run?
The light flashes for more than 56 hours continuously on AA lithium batteries and runs for 28 hours in continuous-on mode. That is more than 48 hours longer than the requirement set by SOLAS and the USCG.
Which batteries do I need?
Two AA batteries, which are not included. Lithium is recommended because they last longer and perform better in the cold. Replace lithium batteries every five years or before the expiration date marked on them.
Why cool white light?
The light is intentionally designed as cool white, without any yellow tint. That light carries further over water, making you visible at a greater distance than with a lamp that has a yellow hue.
What is the difference from the Firefly PRO Waterbug?
This version only turns on if you switch it on yourself. The Waterbug with article number 3971.3 also has water activation and will light up automatically as soon as it is submerged. For a life jacket, the Waterbug is usually the better choice.
Are the batteries included?
No. You need two AA batteries which you purchase separately. Lithium is recommended due to its longer lifespan and better performance in the cold.
