The ACR ResQLink 410 RLS is a personal locator beacon, or PLB for short, featuring Return Link Service. A flashing blue light confirms that your distress signal has been received. It weighs 148 grams, floats, and requires no subscription.
Personal distress beacon that confirms your emergency call has been received
The ACR ResQLink 410 RLS adds something truly valuable to the trusted ResQLink concept: confirmation. Via Return Link Service, the beacon receives a signal back through the Cospas-Sarsat network as soon as your distress message is received and your position is determined. A flashing blue light on the device indicates this.
Otherwise, it is a fully-featured ResQLink: it floats, uses 406 MHz to transmit to satellites, GPS and Galileo for positioning, 121.5 MHz homing for local rescue, and includes both a regular and an infrared strobe. Activation remains simple: just deploy the antenna and press a button.
Why choose the ResQLink 410 RLS?
- Return Link Service: a flashing blue light confirms your distress message has been received
- No subscription required: one-time purchase, free registration
- Buoyant: built-in buoyancy
- Position accuracy down to 100 meters: GPS and Galileo multi-constellation reception
- Strobe and infrared strobe: visible in the dark and via night vision
- Broadly approved: including Cospas-Sarsat, RED Europe, AMSA Australia, and Canada
Who is this product for?
This version is suitable for anyone heading out alone or far from civilization who knows the difference between hoping and knowing. This could be a solo sailor, but also a commercial ship skipper, a sports fisherman, a hiker, or a hunter. If you want to be able to read your coordinates in addition to the confirmation, take a look at the ResQLink View RLS with its integrated display.
What are the benefits for you?
- You know your call has been received: the blue light provides that confirmation
- Less uncertainty while waiting: no need to wonder if the signal got through
- No monthly costs: one-time purchase without a subscription
- Five years of readiness: battery lasts for five years
- Compact and light: 148 grams, fits in a jacket pocket

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a PLB and an EPIRB?
A PLB, or personal locator beacon, is assigned to an individual and carried on your person, whereas an EPIRB belongs to the ship and is kept in a fixed mount on board. A PLB is smaller and lighter, has a shorter operating life, and must always be activated manually. For commercial shipping, an EPIRB is mandatory, while a PLB serves as a personal supplement.
Are there subscription costs?
No, you do not need a subscription. Registration of the beacon is free, and in most parts of the world, rescue operations are also free of charge.
Do I need to register my PLB?
Yes, registration is mandatory. In the Netherlands, you register a PLB with the Radiocommunications Agency (RDI). Unlike an EPIRB, you do not need an operator's certificate for a PLB. Keep your information up to date and have the beacon registered in the new owner's name if sold.
How long does the battery last?
The battery lasts five years and must be replaced after that, or sooner if the beacon has been used in an emergency. Replacement must only be performed by an ACR-authorized service center, as the unit must be fully tested afterwards.
Does the beacon work anywhere in the world?
Yes. A 406 MHz beacon works everywhere in the world, including both poles. You do need a clear view of the sky, so it will not work inside a building or in a cave.
What does Return Link Service mean exactly?
RLS is a confirmation message that returns to your beacon as soon as the search and rescue chain has received your distress signal and determined your position. This confirmation typically arrives within ten to twenty minutes. It does not mean a rescue is already underway, only that your notification has been received and forwarded to the appropriate authorities.
What is the difference from the ResQLink View RLS?
The View RLS has a digital display that shows the confirmation as a message, in addition to the blue light, and it has an operating life of 28 hours compared to 24 hours or more for the 410 RLS. With the 410 RLS, you only receive confirmation via the flashing blue light.
