Velcro is the simplest solution available, which is exactly why it is so practical: you can move the beacon from your vest to your backpack in seconds without any tools. Velcro does wear out, however, and a strap that no longer grips firmly will not hold the beacon securely when it counts. Replace it if the Velcro becomes dull or fuzzy.

If the strap feels dull or fuzzy and you hear very little resistance when pulling it apart, it no longer grips properly. It is wise to replace it, as the strap needs to hold the beacon securely when you are moving.
