The ACR RCL-300A is a searchlight in a different league than the LED models. Two 35-watt metal halide lamps together produce one million candela in a deliberately narrow beam. That focus is the point: the narrower the beam, the further the light carries.
The RCL-300A is designed to increase safety during nighttime operations. That sounds general, but it refers to work where you need to be able to distinguish an object at a distance: a person overboard, a buoy, an obstacle in the waterway, or a quay you are approaching in the dark. For that kind of work, range is more important than a wide illuminated area.
The light is supplied with the URP-102 Point Pad and the URC-300 master controller. These allow you to control on, off, pan, tilt, and rotation speed from your fixed station. The XRCiZ function in the controller automatically rotates the light a full circle in both directions every thirty days and moves the reflectors up and down, keeping the mechanism smooth even if you don't use the light for months.

Who is this product made for?
The RCL-300A is suitable for large sport yachts and mega yachts, as well as large sport fishing boats and commercial vessels. In practice, this applies to vessels where an LED searchlight falls short: pilot services, towing, fishing, emergency services, and large yachts that frequently sail at night. For smaller vessels, one of the LED models is usually the wiser choice, if only because of the power consumption.

How does the RCL-300A compare to ACR's LED searchlights?
With 1,000,000 candela, the RCL-300A is more than twice as powerful as the RCL-95, the most powerful LED model in this series. The trade-off is that HID requires more power and lamps need to be replaced over time, whereas LEDs last for tens of thousands of hours.
Why a narrow beam?
Because light intensity and beam width work against each other. The narrower you keep the beam, the further the light carries. For recognizing an object at a distance, that is exactly what you want.
