Rubber hardens and shrinks due to years of sun, salt, and temperature fluctuations, and at some point, water will start leaking in along the base. You rarely notice this immediately, but you will when the ceiling below starts to stain or the wiring begins to corrode. Therefore, replace the gasket whenever you disassemble the searchlight, even if it still looks intact.

What is the RCL-75?
The RCL-75 is an older controllable searchlight series from ACR. The searchlight itself is no longer available, but the parts are still obtainable so that existing installations can remain in service.
Can I still keep my RCL-75 working?
Yes. As long as parts are available, repairing is generally more cost-effective than replacing. If the light itself needs replacing, the RCL-50 LED and RCL-95 LED are the current successors.
Should I replace the gasket if it still looks good?
If you are disassembling the searchlight anyway, yes. Rubber hardens invisibly due to sun and salt, and the gasket costs a fraction of the damage caused by a leaking feed-through.
