This is the complete kit for the ACR SR303 GMDSS handheld radio: the device with a sealed emergency battery, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and a charging station. For emergency use and daily communication.

The complete SR303 for emergency use and daily communication on board
This is the complete kit of the ACR SR303. In addition to the handheld radio and the sealed primary lithium battery, you receive a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a charging station. This makes the device suitable for daily work on board without compromising your emergency equipment.

The setup is simple. The primary battery remains sealed for when things go wrong, and for regular communication, you use the rechargeable battery that stays charging in the charging station. During an inspection, it is immediately visible that the emergency battery is unused, while the radio is simply being used in practice.

Furthermore, it is the same SR303: waterproof, certified for IMO and SOLAS regulations, operable while wearing survival suit gloves, and featuring a backlit display and keypad. If you connect the primary battery after removing the seal label, the device automatically starts up in GMDSS mode with channel 16, volume 8, and squelch 2. NFC allows you to read the battery replacement date with your phone. The device has 21 simplex channels. A flexible rubber antenna, a belt clip, and a wrist lanyard are included as standard.

Why choose the SR303 radio set?

  • Two batteries in one set: a sealed primary for emergency use and a rechargeable one for daily use
  • Charging station included: the rechargeable battery is always ready
  • Emergency equipment remains demonstrably intact: the seal label remains unbroken
  • Starts automatically in GMDSS mode: channel 16, volume 8, and squelch 2 are set correctly immediately
  • NFC built-in: read replacement date and product details with your phone
  • Operable with gloves: even while wearing survival suit gloves

Who is this product made for?

This kit is intended for everyone who must or wants to have a GMDSS handheld radio on board and actually wants to use the device, for example between bridge and deck, during mooring, or between ship and tender. Suitable for merchant shipping, fishing, towing, charter vessels, and yachts that do not want to work with two separate devices.

What are the benefits for you?

  • One device for two purposes: emergency use and daily communication
  • Your emergency battery remains demonstrably full: the seal label provides proof during an inspection
  • Always charged: the charging station keeps the battery at capacity
  • Familiarity in use: regular use means you know the device when it counts

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a radio license?

In most countries, yes. A handheld radio falls under the radio licensing rules of the country where you are sailing. For exact requirements, the regulations of the competent authority in your country apply. If you are unsure what is needed in your situation, please feel free to contact us. For the Netherlands, you can arrange this via the Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur.

What does GMDSS mean?

GMDSS stands for Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, the international system for emergency communication at sea. Ships falling under SOLAS must have a fixed number of certified handheld radios on board.

What is channel 16?

Channel 16 is the international emergency and calling channel on VHF. Both ACR handheld radios automatically switch to this channel upon activation, so you do not have to search in an emergency situation.

What is included in this kit?

The SR303 handheld radio, the sealed primary lithium battery, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and a charging station. Additionally, it comes standard with a flexible rubber antenna, a belt clip, and a wrist lanyard.

Can I use the handheld radio daily without affecting my emergency equipment?

Yes, that is what this kit is intended for. You use the rechargeable battery for daily communication and leave the primary battery sealed. During an inspection, it is visible that it is unused.
