The ACR RCL-85 LED in black is a fully wirelessly controlled LED searchlight, or wireless marine searchlight, featuring 180,000 candela from six 30-watt High Flux LEDs. Only a power cable is required, as all operation is wireless.
180,000 candela wireless searchlight in black finish
The ACR RCL-85 LED in black delivers the same 180,000 candela as the white version, from six 30-watt High Flux LEDs. The black housing is the preferred choice for vessels with dark superstructures, as well as for work vehicles, as this light is also suitable for trucks.
Like the white version, this is a fully wirelessly controllable searchlight. You simply connect the 12 to 24-volt power supply and operate everything else via the included handheld remote. This makes it ideal for retrofitting, where running control cables is often the most difficult part of the job.
A dark housing has a practical advantage at night: it reflects less light from your own deck lighting back into your field of view. Furthermore, the technology is identical to the white version: 350-degree rotation at two speeds, 90-degree tilt, and an 8-degree beam angle that allows the light to reach long distances.
Why choose the RCL-85 LED in black?
- 180,000 candela: six 30-watt High Flux LEDs cast the light deep into the darkness
- Fully wireless operation: only the power cable needs to be run to the light
- Simple installation: you connect a 12 to 24-volt power supply and everything else is wireless
- 350-degree rotation range: look all around at high or low speed
- 90-degree tilt: sufficient to illuminate bridges, buoys, and piers
- Black housing: matches a dark superstructure and reflects less light back at night
Who is this product for?
The dark version of the RCL-85 is intended for small to medium-sized motor yachts and light commercial vessels with a dark superstructure. Because this light is also suitable for trucks and work vehicles, the black version is often the logical choice there as well, as it is less conspicuous on a cab roof. The wireless design makes retrofitting easy.
What are the benefits for you?
- Afternoon installation: only power supply needs to be connected, no control cables through the superstructure
- Blends in: dark housing on a dark roof or dark superstructure
- Also outside of boating: explicitly rated by ACR for trucks and work vehicles
- No more replacing bulbs: LEDs last significantly longer than halogen bulbs

Frequently asked questions
What does candela mean for a searchlight?
Candela is the luminous intensity within the beam, not the total light output. For a searchlight, that is the number that counts because the light is focused to reach long distances. Therefore, more candela means seeing further, not illuminating a wider area.
What does the XRCiZ function do?
XRCiZ automatically rotates the searchlight every thirty days. This keeps the bearing surfaces free of corrosion and the electrical contacts functional. Especially for a light that sits unused on the roof for months, this prevents it from seizing up.
Does this searchlight work on 12 or 24 volts?
Both. This series works on 12 to 24 volts, so it works on almost any onboard power system without a converter.
What is the difference between the RCL-85 and the RCL-95?
The RCL-95 is significantly more powerful, with 440,000 candela versus 180,000 for the RCL-85. The RCL-95 comes with both a wired Point Pad and a wireless handheld remote, while the RCL-85 works completely wirelessly. The RCL-85 is the more affordable and easier-to-install choice.
Do I need to run control cables through the ship?
No. With the RCL-85, only the power cable needs to be run to the searchlight. All operation is wireless via the included handheld remote, which makes installation considerably easier.
Can I mount this searchlight on a vehicle?
The RCL-85 is expressly suitable for trucks and work vehicles as well. The light operates on 12 to 24 volts and only requires a power cable, making it easy to mount on a cab roof.
