Simrad RS40-B with DSC, AIS Transmit and Receive

Powerful Class B AIS transmitter and VHF marine radio in one device for maximum safety on the water.
The RS40-B is an advanced fixed-mount Class D DSC VHF marine radio with an integrated Class B SOTDMA AIS transponder. This allows you to not only transmit your position to other AIS-equipped vessels, but also receive their position on a connected Simrad multifunction display. A built-in GPS receiver provides position determination without an external antenna.

The device features a large graphic display, intuitive controls, and NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity for seamless integration into modern onboard systems.

Why choose the RS40-B?

  • VHF and AIS in one device: no separate AIS transponder needed, everything integrated into one compact device.
  • Class B SOTDMA AIS: higher transmission priority and better reception than older Class B CSTDMA AIS systems.
  • Class D DSC marine radio: full Digital Selective Calling functionality for emergency calls on channel 70.
  • Integrated GPS: position transmission works immediately, no external GPS antenna needed.
  • Clear graphic display: channel display, AIS target information and menu on one screen.

Who is this product for?

The RS40-B is intended for recreational boaters and professional skippers who want both a reliable marine radio and active AIS transmission, without having two separate devices on board. Suitable for motorboats, sailboats, and commercial vessels in busy waterways where AIS visibility contributes to safety. Also ideal for those participating in organized tours or races where AIS tracking is desired.

What does it offer you?

  • Maximum visibility: other vessels see your position, course, and speed on their AIS screen.
  • One device, two functions: less space on the helm, less cabling, less power consumption.
  • Fast emergency procedure: red DSC button for direct emergency call with position to the coast guard.
  • Integration with your MFD: AIS targets automatically visible on compatible Simrad displays.
  • Future-proof choice: Class B SOTDMA is the current standard for Class B AIS.
