The ACR LowPro Cat II bracket is the manual mounting holder for the GlobalFix V5 and V6 EPIRB. You remove the beacon from the bracket yourself. The water sensor remains disabled as long as the beacon is in it.
Manual bracket with grab-and-go mechanism for your GlobalFix EPIRB
The ACR LowPro Cat II bracket is the manual mounting holder for the GlobalFix V5 and GlobalFix V6 EPIRB. With a Cat II setup, you take the beacon out of the holder yourself. The release mechanism is kept intentionally simple: grab and go, without any fumbling at a moment when you have no time for it.
The bracket has a mounting orientation that only fits one way, so the beacon cannot be inserted backward. As long as the EPIRB is in the holder, the water sensor is disabled, so wash over or rain will not cause a false alarm. This bracket fits exclusively on the GlobalFix V5 and V6, i.e., the RLB-44 and RLB-43 models.
Why choose the LowPro Cat II bracket?
- Grab-and-go release: a simple mechanism that allows you to remove the beacon in one motion
- Mounting possible in only one way: you cannot insert the beacon the wrong way around
- No false alarms: the water sensor is disabled as long as the beacon is in the bracket
- Built for outdoors: resistant to conditions on deck
- Official ACR part: fits the GlobalFix V5 and V6 exactly
Who is this product for?
This bracket is intended for anyone with a GlobalFix V5 or V6 on board who wants to mount the beacon in a protected place within reach, or for replacing a damaged or weathered bracket. This applies to every type of vessel, from recreational boats to commercial craft. If you specifically want the beacon to release itself if the vessel sinks, then you do not need a Cat II bracket, but the Sea Shelter 4 Cat I housing with its corresponding HydroFix release.
What are the benefits for you?
- Quickly at hand: no key or tools needed to grab the beacon
- No surprises: the one-way mounting prevents a incorrectly placed beacon
- Peace of mind on board: no false alarms due to wet weather
- Simple replacement: fits directly onto existing mounting points

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Cat I and a Cat II bracket?
The difference lies in how the beacon is released from the holder. A Cat I bracket is a closed housing with a hydrostatic release that automatically deploys the beacon if the vessel sinks, at a depth between 1.5 and 4 meters. A Cat II bracket is an open holder from which you remove the beacon yourself. With both, you can also activate the beacon manually.
Will my EPIRB go off if the bracket gets wet?
No. Both the Cat I and Cat II brackets disable the beacon's water sensor as long as the beacon is in the holder. If the bracket gets wet due to rain or wash over, it will not cause a false alarm. Water activation only works once the beacon has been removed from the bracket.
Where is the best place to mount the bracket?
Choose an easily accessible location protected from vibration, direct sunlight, exhaust fumes, and aggressive chemicals, and where nothing can be placed in front of it. A Cat I bracket must also be mounted with a clear path so the beacon can truly float free, so not under a spray hood or cabin roof.
