The ACR LowPro Cat II bracket with part number 2833 is the manual mounting bracket for the GlobalFix V4 EPIRB, model RLB-41. It does not fit the V5 and V6; part number 9656 is intended for those.

Manual bracket for the GlobalFix V4, quick to grab when needed
The ACR LowPro Cat II bracket with part number 2833 is the manual mounting bracket for the GlobalFix V4 EPIRB, model RLB-41. With a Cat II setup, you remove the beacon from the holder yourself, after which it automatically begins transmitting upon contact with water.

As long as the EPIRB is in the bracket, the water sensor is disabled. Rain or splashing water will therefore not lead to a false alarm, which is an important detail for an open cockpit or on deck. This bracket is intended for the V4 and does not fit the newer V5 and V6; for those, you should use part number 9656.

Why choose the LowPro Cat II bracket for V4?

  • Specially for the GlobalFix V4: fits model RLB-41 exactly
  • Quick to release: the beacon comes out in one motion
  • No false alarms: the water sensor is disabled as long as the beacon is in the bracket
  • Resistant to conditions: made for permanent mounting on board
  • Official ACR part: not a universal bracket, but the original part

Who is this product for?

This bracket is intended for owners of a GlobalFix V4 who want to replace their existing holder, for example after years of sun and salt, or who want to be able to mount the beacon in a second location on board. If you have a V5 or V6, please look at part number 9656.

What are the benefits?

  • Quickly at hand: no tools required to grab the beacon
  • Extends the lifespan of your setup: replacing a weathered bracket is cheaper than a new beacon
  • Peace of mind on board: no false alarms due to wet weather
  • Fits directly: designed for the existing mounting points of the V4

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Cat I and a Cat II bracket?

The difference lies in how the beacon is released from the holder. A Cat I bracket is a closed housing with a hydrostatic release that automatically deploys the beacon if the vessel sinks, at a depth between 1.5 and 4 meters. A Cat II bracket is an open holder from which you remove the beacon yourself. With both, you can also manually activate the beacon.

Will my EPIRB go off if the bracket gets wet?

No. Both the Cat I and the Cat II bracket disable the beacon's water sensor as long as the beacon is in the holder. If the bracket gets wet due to rain or splashing water, it will not cause a false alarm. Water activation only works once the beacon has been removed from the bracket.

Where is the best place to mount the bracket?

Choose an easily accessible spot that is protected from vibrations, direct sunlight, exhaust fumes, and aggressive chemicals, and where nothing can obstruct it. A Cat I bracket must also be mounted without obstructions so that the beacon can truly float to the surface, so not under a sprayhood or cabin roof.
